Although the source (Bryan Cranston, star of the other AMC critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad) has no connections to the network’s zombie outbreak super hit, this tidbit of news gets me all kinds of excited. Cranston was interviewed by New York Magazine, and let it slip that he’s heard things through the grapevine of a possible July premiere for Dead's second season.
It was a decision from AMC that they wanted to position us in July… They want to attract as many eyeballs as possible, away from the heavy competition of the September, November [or] January start.
I believe they’re going to put Walking Dead in July as well.
The general assumption was we’d see season two a year after the first’s premiere (last Halloween night) so this would be a brilliant move on AMC’s part. Generally TV is a wasteland in the dog days of summer, so watching the survivor’s continued post-apocalyptic adventures would more than quench the collective thirsts of fans. It would probably drown us. But, you know, in a good way.
