Ubisoft Goes Back To Its Roots With Rayman Origins

Ubisoft are doing more than simply bringing back one of their more famous characters, Rayman Origins will also feature full 4 player co-op and of course high definition graphics.  Rayman Origins will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

The 2D side-scrolling, platforming adventure is due for release this holiday season and we have some screen for your viewing pleasure as well as some features you can look forward to in the game

PES 2012: Real Football Simulation Announced

Konami have today confirmed that Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is on its way. We have the official announcement trailer as well as some screenshots. For non-football (soccer) fans these annual releases for what is effectively the same game with updated rosters, kits and stadiums may seem senseless, but for football (soccer) fans these are essential purchases.

Each year it is a two horse contest between FIFA and PES for the title of best football game and it has been a fiercely fought contest in recent years.

Do you expect PES to regain its crown this year or will FIFA continue to dominate?

Let’s get onto the details that we know so far:

"For me, the ultimate aim in the ongoing PES series is to match what people see when they go to a match or watch a big game on TV with what they experience on their console," explains Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, the Creative Producer of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. “As such, in consultation with football fans across the globe, we have been working non-stop to isolate and determine how to make our game marry in with how real football is played. This is key to PES 2012, and key to providing the ultimate football experience within a console title.”

To this end, PES 2012 continues KONAMI’s determination to work with fans of both the PES series and football in general, to create a truly realistic, immersive and utterly playable take on the modern game. Thus, the focus in PES 2012 is the instinctive way the game can be played and on teamwork in particular. Seabass and his Tokyo team have worked to recreate the very essence of top-level football, ensuring the new game’s AI engine has undergone a major overhaul and provide an experience akin to being part of a real team.

Attacking play is a cornerstone of PES 2012, and the new game benefits from a more open approach that allows users to dictate the pace of movement, with all-new AI elements incorporated so team mates make runs and offer support in one-on-one situations. Players make useful dummy runs to draw defenders, and this offers users greater options to move the ball around when they are being closed down. Thus, the team works together a more cohesive unit, reacting to the movements of the player with the ball, and working to force the opposing team into mistakes.

Zonal marking and positional defending are also massively enhanced; ensuring players are forced to work harder to split the opposition defence. Meanwhile a new cursor switching system has been implemented using the right analogue stick to switch to any player on the field. This allows users to pick a team mate anywhere on the pitch, thereby allowing players to react to threats faster, and to shut down attacks more quickly. Hold up play is being tweaked to give even greater control. AI defenders are able to hold a much tighter defensive line, position themselves better and track opponents more efficiently. The off-the-ball switching also extends to key set pieces, such as goal kicks, corners, free kicks and throw-ins, and allows users to target a specific player and send them on runs or to drag defenders out of position, and allows for quick breaks and space to be exploited more easily.

The physicality of top-level football is represented as PES 2012 extends the jostling system of its predecessor. Defenders rely on their strength and stature to force a player from the ball as strikers and play makers make use of unique attributes to beat their markers. Tighter, more accurate collisions see players tumbling dependent on how they are knocked off the ball. Crucially, control is not lost, allowing the stumbling player to be brought directly back under control.

The result is a game that, more than ever, truly represents the key attributes of the world’s greatest players, but without sacrificing balance and allowing single players to waltz undefended through a game. Coupled with heavily tweaked animation, more detailed lighting techniques, a wider variety of player styles, improved dead-ball situations, expanded tactics and a new customisable pass feature, means that PES 2012 truly captures the essence of top-flight football.

“Team work is what separates the world’s greatest teams from their peers, and is the hub of everything within PES 2012,” added Takatsuka. “PES 2012 focuses on the core elements of top-level football: attacking play, freedom of movement, the creation of space, and working together as a unit both up field and in defence. These elements combine to create a game that flows and ebbs like a real match, with individual shows of brilliance changing a game, and more control over every aspect of play within a wide-ranging yet instinctive control system. PES 2012 will turn the heads of fans everywhere.”

New Green Lantern: Rise Of The Manhunters Screens

That’s right Platform Nation we have some new screenshots for the upcoming game Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters for you to take a look at.  As you may have already seen the newest video for the movie is looking pretty good and the game seems to be shaping up as well. First before the screens a little more about the game:

Featuring the voice and likeness of Ryan Reynolds (in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions), Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters allows players to assume the role of Hal Jordan to battle the Manhunters—a once noble android police force who are now bent on destroying the Green Lantern Corps.

Players take control of the most powerful weapon in the universe – the Green Lantern Power Ring – and conjure a spectacular range of “hard-light” constructs including a gatling gun, giant fists, and much more as they take flight to outer space in an effort to restore Intergalactic order.

Here are those screens for you to take a look at, some are for the Nintendo 3DS as well as the console versions and they all look equally impressive if you ask me.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D (PES 2011 3D) Screenshots

PES 2011 3D is one of the launch titles for the Nintendo 3DS and if you are picking it up, then you might be interested in these screenshots we have just received from Konami. It will be interesting to see if Konami have retained the level of realism that their console title is renowned for and whether veteran PES players pick up the 3DS just so they can play PES on the move.

OK so they are not 3D but we have 36 screenshots to give you an idea of just how good PES will look on your brand new and shiny 3DS.  It is now over to you,  please drop back and leave comments once you have some hands-on time with the game to let your fellow readers know if the game is the real deal.

The new game retains the Pro Evolution Soccer series’ acclaimed level of control and realism, but the 3D imaging capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS enhance the experience by giving real depth to its many searching passes, long crosses, and interplay of passes.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters Demo Screenshots

Hot on the heels of the Collector’s edition screenshots we brought you earlier this week, EA Sports have kindly sent 13 brand new screenshots direct from the demo.  Keep an eye on Platform Nation as later today we will bring you some videos from the demo. We have a separate video for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

When can you get your hands on the demo?  Just under two weeks from now as the 8th March is the day you’ll be able to take Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12 for a test drive.

Warriors: Legends Of Troy. Boss Battles And Location Screens

Have we got a treat for you!  We just got our hands on some new screens for Warriors: Legends of Troy and couldn’t wait to show them to you.  In these screens you can see some of the bosses that you will  be fighting as well as some of the great looking locations that the story will take place in.  The bosses included in the screenshots are Cyclops and a Griffin.  Some of the action shots show you beating the bosses but they are hardly spoilers as you would expect to have to defeat a boss to progress the story.

Unleash Hell On Mars. Red Faction: Armageddon Launches May 31, 2011

THQ Inc. today confirmed that gamers in North America can get their hands on Red Faction: Armageddon on May 31, while the rest of the world will have to wait a couple of days.  International gamers can pick up the game on June 3rd.

Red Faction: Armageddon is set 50 years after the events of the previous game and if you want to get some more detail on the background for the game, make sure to check out the Syfy live-action movie, Red Faction: Origins .

This time around, not only will you be able to destroy structure, thanks to the Geomod 2.0 physics engine, you will also be able to repair whatever you destroy.  This is thanks to the new Nano-Forge’s incredible repair ability.

de Blob 2 Trailer And Screenshots

The sequel to the 2008 hit, de Blob 2 hits consoles this week and we have the launch trailer and some screenshots  for you to enjoy.

In the colorful sequel, de Blob will paint his way through the enormous and pollution-filled Prisma City accompanied by a fantastic new interactive soundtrack and an arsenal of new tricks to confound his enemies. Joining de Blob will be a new robot sidekick, named Pinky, who will help him blast enemies, disable traps, and negotiate the challenging levels of Prisma City. The game will also present players with new side quests, which allow players to upgrade de Blob’s abilities. de Blob 2 features an in-depth single-player campaign with all-new power-ups and challenges, as well as multiplayer modes that support co-operative and competitive play.

Shoot Many Robots Gameplay Trailer

Shoot Many Robots is a an upcoming “cross-genre” game from Demiurge Studios – the studio that worked on games such as, Borderlands, Mass Effect & BioShock – and it looks, surprisingly fun. Check out the games first gameplay trailer and some screenshots below.

The game will feature 4 player co-op but not else much info has been released yet other than robots will be shot and you will be pissing off bosses. As, you can see, the game looks pretty fun. The stylized art, similar to Borderlands, is something that I like a lot. Check out some screenshots below.

New Duke Nukem Forever Screens
